Parent Partnerships

Parent Partnerships
Parents have an extremely important part to play in helping their child learn and develop so at West End Primary we aim to establish good home-school partnerships from the very beginning of a child’s education.  We involve parents in our learning by keeping them informed of current topics and themes and welcoming any contributions that parents can offer to enhance the learning opportunities.
As children begin our school, we provide information about ways to support your child at home.  We like parents to let us know of any achievements a child makes at home as we love to be able to celebrate their success in school as well.

We welcome parents into our settings to spend the morning with us to see how settled the children and to see our vital daily routines. We encourage children to show their parents around and look at our displays together to talk about what they have been learning and making in Nursery and Reception. We organise ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, where we encourage the parents to play and active part in the
children’s learning. We plan a focus for each session and gather feedback from parents to form this.

As we believe 'developing a love for reading' is vital in the Early Years, we hold ‘Mystery Reader’ sessions, where we invite parents to sign up to being the mystery reader. Parents can then bring a story to read, read one of our core texts or enjoy listening to a story with their child.

Our staff are friendly and welcoming and hold an open door policy to chat about any queries or concerns.  We also hold parent consultations at various points of the year to share the progress of each child.
