Chinese New Year

We enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year traditions. We learnt that it is the Year of the Pig and some of us were born in the Year of the Snake and some of us were born in the Year of the Horse. We know that Chinese people sweep away the bad luck from their homes before the new year and have a reunion dinner with their family. We know the children receive money wallets and it is rude not to accept them with two hands. We know red means good luck and gold means good fortune. We enjoyed learning about the dragon dance and we had a go at dancing like a dragon in P.E. We learnt about the roles in a restaurant and we made menus for our own restaurant. Some of us were waiters and waitress and had to take the customers orders, deliver this information to the chef then bring the food back to our customer.  We really enjoyed this topic!
